ART COMPETITION IN AUSTRALIA BY SOFA, BARGARH, ODISHA ,INDIA
A wonderful online NRI drawing contest was organized by SOFA in association Orioz , AUSTRALIA on
15th August 2021 on the India’s 75th Independence Day. To commemorate India’s 75 th Independence
Day it was one of first of its kind any institution has organized so far.
The main objective of this art contest was to create a bridge for children of Indian origin outside India
the presence of Indian culture, heritage, art, music & tradition of Odisha in their heart.
Art and design stimulate creativity and imagination. It provides visual, tactile, and sensory. Furthermore
the main goal behind this NRI art competition was to enable children to communicate through a non-
verbal media which is the oldest form of expression, what they see, feel, and think using color, texture,
form, pattern and different materials and processes. Any art content enables children to record from
first-hand experience and from imagination, and to select their own ideas to use in their work.
Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi Said in his most famous book “MY EXPERIENCE WITH TRUTH”,
‘Children should be taught the art of drawing before learning how to write’
So art is the genesis of all creativity, imagination, it also expand the child thought provoking capacity.
Our organization taking into consideration that “The great assets of India’s are growing abroad” they
must be growing with our holding hand.
Orioz , Australia Members and SOFA authority decided to have the content this content on 15th August
2021 on the India’s 75th Independence Day. Registration email with details of the content was sent to
all the Orioz NRI members. The registration was open from 7th August till 13th August. Organizing team
was excited to see 74 entries on the day registration day closure.
The participants were divided into two different groups based on the ages. Drawing themes based on
75th India’ Independence Day was distributed to the respective participants based on their groups. All
the arts by participants were requested to submit their respective arts by 15th August 2021. Then it was
a huge task for the organizing committee members to collate all the drawings, grouping them to as per
the groups and sharing with the panelist for review.
